Whether I personally told you about my blog or you just happened to stumble upon it, you’re here and probably wondering: Where am I? – Well, you’ve clicked your way on to the blog of a journalism/mass communication major in the great state of Texas.
My name is Chelsea, and despite my reputation of indecisiveness, I have decided, without a doubt, that I want to pursue journalism. Initially, I wanted to go into news reporting because I loved the thought of being on the front lines. I was drawn to this field because English (writing) has always been my favorite subject and I was “born to travel.” Journalism, more specifically, news journalism, brought them both perfectly together to create an exciting, challenging, “on your toes” occupation that appealed so much to me.
However, when I started college in 2012, my goals shifted a little. News reporting is still exciting to me, but now, my plan is to use the writing, reporting, and communication skills from my major and apply it towards ministry.
Despite that little detour, I’m still pursuing a degree in journalism and I know obstacles and who knows what will come my way. That’s where this blog comes in. I am going to blog about everything that I face as a student pursuing her aspired career. I will post things from personal experiences, to random thoughts and stories, all relating back (in some way) to, what I like to call, my “journey to journalism.” The good, the bad, you name it—it will all be here. So, I invite you to come along with me on my “journey to journalism.”
Regardless of where my future takes me, whether I end up in the newsroom or in ministry, it will always be my main goal to bring you—NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.
